ANUBIS/ KILL THE MAN

ANUBIS  is a character I am working on. This is a rough sketch of the design that I will be using to develop wheat paste graffiti and stickers with. I’ll place them all around the Downtown Detroit area and eventually in NYC this coming Fall.

The design represents my liberation and satirical approach to the occult and its symbol-isms. I’m constantly inspired by the hardocore punk/hip-hop scene lately also the japanese influence that is overwhelming pop art and fashion at the moment.

KILL THE MAN

METAMORPHOSIS

In the Spring we are in constant transformation. A rebirth of spirituality, identity and sensuality within ourselves. Closest to the sun is where we belong.

LA FAME POP

LA FAME

LA FAME. The superstardom we dream of and our quest to acquire it. We want to be iconic; living nostalgia, and we are obsessed with the rise and fall of the superstar. The road to fame is one made of a monstrous beast, somewhat like the yellowbrick road in Victor Flemming’s classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. We can be swallowed, consumed, or even killed on this road.Yet we still walk these dead end streets. Catherine’s (the woman I photographed) first words to me were “I have nothing left to loose because there is nothing in the world I want more…i’m going to be a star”.  This is her struggle, which ultimately leads to death.

Ascent of the Saxon-Hemaphrodite

I always like blurring the lines of masculinity and femininity. It is a liberating element. “Transformation is the greatest rebellion against humanity” I am not saying we should not want to be human; because this is what makes us beautiful, but to be human we must accept that we are inside both male and female, hard and soft, light and dark.

What Turns You On?

I’m stepping away from my photographs on this post to showcase some conceptual pop art I have done. I’m going to be posting more pop/performance art pieces through the course of this month and I decided to start with this.

“What Turns You On?” is a piece questioning the boundaries of high art and pornography with refrences and inspiration from the tecnique of the “FLUXUS” art movement and John Baldessari’s pop art of the 80′s.

“Art should have no apologies”

AMISH

I had the awesome opportunity to work with my friend and mentor Lauren Rassel; an amazing fashion designer and stylist. We came up with this concept of two amish lovers escaping and discovering pop culture in the 90′s. They finally got to be bad kids xx love it
